My name is Pedro, I come from Brazil. I'm studying Software Engineering in London for one year. This blog was developed as part of a college subject called "Digital Media Practices" and its final essay. It aims to talk over the influence and changes from the advent of the new media technologies (smart phones, tablets, web 2.0) and its impacts on the surveillance society and panic culture. It also aims to discuss if this advent intensified surveillance itself or only its sense in a global context.
The questions we shall ask ourselves are: we're being monitored all the time today, but has it been always like this? This extreme surveillance systems is a result from the new technological inventions and the broadening of the digital practices? And what is its role in the panic culture? What are the limits and boundaries of the surveillance system and how is it related to privacy issues?
Hope whoever reads this blog enjoys it. I wish you find it useful.
